The Troy University Archaeology Club was founded in 1990, following the establishment of the anthropology department at Troy University. This organization consists of anthropology students as well as members of the community who have an interest in archaeology. Members and students often travel to the Southwest during the summer break and are also invited to nearby archaeological sites during excavation. During the semester breaks, field work is conducted throughout the state of Alabama as well as Florida on prehistoric and historic sites. Students are welcome to work given they meet the requirements. |

This club is affiliated with the Alabama Archaeological Society (AAS), a statewide organization organized in 1954. This society promotes informed archaeological studies as well as preservation on historic and prehistoric sites. Membership to the Troy Archaeology Club includes membership to the Alabama Archaeological Society. Dues are $25.00 per year. This breaks down as $5.00 per year for local dues (Troy) and $20.00 per year for state dues (AAS). Benefits include a monthly newsletter printed by the Troy chapter (Stones & Bones), a semi-annual journal, some field trips, and semi-annual meetings (spring & winter), in which members are invited and encouraged to give short presentations. Club meetings are held in Eldridge Hall, room 40. Check back on this page for the next meeting date. Flyers will be posted on campus one week prior to the meeting date. Feel free to stop by for the next meeting! You do not have to be a student or Social Science major to attend a meeting; visitors welcome!
