Rush is the process you go through to become Greek at a university. Fraternity Rush here at Troy University will begin on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 and will end Friday, January 16, 2009. Fraternity Rush here at Troy is very informal. Fraternities have already begun to contact males to encourage them to participate in the upcoming rush and that is fine. We encourage all non-Greek males enrolled at Troy University to participate in Rush and we encourage each of you to get to know each fraternity. During the Rush period, you will have the opportunity to visit each fraternity function and hopefully in the end you will receive a BID. Fraternities may eventually offer you a BID if they decide that you are someone who holds the same ideals as they do. Whatever fraternity you join, I encourage for your parents to become familiar with the fraternity and its members. It's ok to ask questions and please be yourself.

SCHOLARSHIP

Fraternities at Troy University place a heavy emphasis on scholarship by implementing programs that help members keep excellent grades. At TROY, traditionally, the overall Greek GPA is higher than the overall non-Greek students (undergraduate students GPA). To achieve these standards and encourage scholastic success, each chapter has regular study programs for brothers and new members. Being held accountable and encouraged by their Greek organizations helps many individuals strive for and achieve their academic goals. While fraternities do not hold any magical keys to scholastic success, studies have shown that members of Greek organizations are more likely to obtain a degree than non-Greek students.

From volunteering in elementary schools, to giving blood, to raising money for such charities such as Relay for Life, American Red Cross, and the St. Jude Children's Hospital, TROY fraternities are lending a helping hand. By donating countless hours and raising thousands of dollars for numerou aspects of becoming a Greek students at TROY.
