Earthquake Relief Fund May 13

As you may have seen on the news, a 7.9 earthquake hit southwestern China on May 12 and the aftershocks still continue to cause havoc in Sichuan Province and nearby provinces.  Lives and buildings were destroyed, and millions of people are without food, water, shelter, and communication.  Troy University has many students from Sichuan Province and the nearby provinces that were devastated by the earthquake.  So far, we have no reports of any injuries among our fellow students or alumni, but a current student who is visiting home during the break was in his hometown of Dujiangyan (one of the hardest hit cities) at the time of the earthquake.  Although Zeng Kailin’s home was destroyed, he was unhurt, but some of his family were not as fortunate.   Although the Chinese government is moving rapidly to save lives and restore communication and food delivery, the Chinese people need assistance.  Therefore, the Chinese Students Association is collecting donations for them.

If you would like to contribute, you can do so in the following ways:

(1) Send a check payable to "China Earthquake Relief Fund" or "CSA"  to:

Please be sure to put "For China's Earthquake Disaster Relief" if you make your check payable to CSA.

(2) Make a deposit into the "China Earthquake Relief Fund" at any Regions Bank.

(3)  Donate using your credit card at Google Checkout.

Donations are tax deductible.  100% of the money collected will be sent to humanitarian organizations to provide assistance to the victims of the earthquake, such as food, shelter, and clothing, as well as to help rebuild schools and provide books and school supplies.

Thank you.

The Chinese Students Association will host a prayer service for the victims of the recent earthquake that has devastated southwestern China.  The brief service will be Wednesday, May 28, at 5:15 p.m. at the fountain on Bibb Graves Quad.  In case of bad weather, the event will be in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor.

Our service will focus on community and bring us together for strength during this disaster that touches the lives of Chinese students and Troy University.

CSA hopes that you can join us.
